In the poem
America the speaker loves and hates America because America makes life
difficult. In the poem it talks about
how it can be hard to make a living.
For example in the poem “she feeds me bread of
bitterness, And sinks into my throat her tigers tooth.” This means America helps keep the speaker
alive but it is hard to make a living.
Although
it’s hard to make it in America the speaker still loves it. In the poem the speaker shows respect to
America even thought it’s hard to make a living. For example in the poem it says “I sand with
her walls with not a shred of terror, malice, not a word of jeer.” This means she does not break the rules and
does not break them and she has resect for America. Also it means that they would not hesitate to
help out her country.
In
the poem it is hard for the speaker to make a living. I know this because in the poem it says “like
priceless treasures sinking in the sand.”
This means everything you worked for has been taking away. Another example of this is in the poem it
says “and sinks into my throat like a tigers tooth stealing my breath of life.” This means America is making it hard to
survive.
In
America it can be ease or hard for people to make it in America. In the poem it talks about how everything the
is being taken away. Also America keeps
them alive by providing for them.
