The book, A Long Way Gone and other books that deal with violence and drugs should not be banned.  They raise awareness of child soldiers, and teach us important lessons, and inform us about what is going on in the world as well as what we can do to stop any issues that are being faced.  Also, the book should not be banned because it helps relate the issues being presented in the books to the issues being faced in their own lives.  These books also teach people how to deal with these issues.

            A Long Way Gone raises awareness of the issues children face as in the world.  For example many kids in the world have to do with drugs and violence.  The books keep the kids from doing that stuff by giving them something to do.  Also it teaches teens how to deal with certain situations. 

            This book also imparts an important message to its readers.   This message is: don’t give up.  For example in the book a long way gone they have to run away from the rebels even though they were starving to death.  Also it shows an example of a good role mottle.

            And although there is a lot of violence in this book, it shows the reality of war.  All though war can bring out the worst and the best of us the book should not be banned.  It is not right to ban a book because of one child.  If you are going to ban the book you should try to see other people’s opinions. 

            In conclusion the book should not be banned. They should not be banned because they can teach a valuable lesson and helps teens with their issues.
