FROM BAGHDAD WITH LOVE

      The book "From Baghdad With Love" started out in a abandon house during the war in Iraq.  A group of  US marines named the Lava Dogs were looking for the enemy.  All of the sudden they heard a noise. They all got scared thinking it was a grenade.  Then it happened again and again they realized that it was a grenade.  They keep looking through the house until they found a puppy.
   
  The brought the dog back to their base and named him Lava in honor of the Lava Dogs who found him.  They fed Lava MRES which means meals ready to eat.  he liked to play with the marines' boots.  they kept Lava around because he gave the marines company.  The marines kept lava despite the fact that they were not aloud to keep pets at the base.  They even kept lava after the commanders order all dog to be killed.  

      Lava became closest with Jay  Kopelmen, a lieutenant colonel.  Lava became close with Anne a reporter when Jay asked for help getting Lava to the US.   Jay was afraid that Lava would be killed if he stayed in Iraq.  Jay was going to be off the base for a while and would then be going home to California.  Anne was going to keep Lava until jay moved back to the US but it was too difficult.  They have to think of a better idea.  They came up with all sorts of ideas but finally they thought of one. A lot of people helped Lava get out of Iraq.  He now lives in California with Jay in his family.
